There are two separate entrances to the en-suite his-and-hers bathroom with twin sinks. His with stall shower, hers with Jacuzzi tub. Private head. Entertainment system featuring 27” flat screen TV/DVD/CD with individual satellite receiver, and iPod docking station. Large windows create abundant natural light in the Master Stateroom if desired.

CAPTAIN – Stephen Bay

Captain Stephen Bay hails from the Fiji Islands and was educated in New Zeeland and the University of the South Pacific. Stephen developed an affinity for the ocean from a young age and has been involved in the Marine Industry all his adult life. He is certified with a 3,000 GT license from the MCA and has worldwide experience on yachts, fishing and dive charter vessels and has cruised South Pacific, Asian, North and Central American, Caribbean and European waters since 1997. Stephen’s enthusiasm for the yacht charter industry coupled with a strong affiliation for the areas in which he travels makes him a hospitable and confident guide.

CHEF – Nathaniel Cox

Nathaniel began developing his palette 13 years ago in his native, Australia, where he studied under an array of Michelin starred chefs from around the world. He spent 9 years immersing himself in French Gastronomy and traditional British cuisine, cultivating a unique, modern flair all of his own. Upon receiving his pastry chef certification, Nate joined the yachting industry on the recommendation of an old friend. His time at sea has taken him around the world and enhanced his repertoire extensively; much to the delight of all who dine on Nate’s cutting edge and artistically presented cuisine. In his leisure time Nate can be found playing guitar, snowboarding and riding his motorcycle.

CHIEF STEWARDESS – Donne Burmeister

Donné grew up in the central part of South Africa and spent most of her time raising animals on the farm, riding horses, hiking, fishing and water skiing. After completing her Diploma in Hospitality Management & Tourism, she enjoyed a career working in top 5-Star properties worldwide, cruise liners and yachts. While working on North Island in the Seychelles, she had her first adventure onboard a super yacht.
Six years later she is still thoroughly enjoying the industry, which allows her to pursue her interest in traveling, culture, cuisine and most importantly people.
Donné has a keen interest in Nutrition and Dietetics and pursued an Advanced Diploma for this over the past few years. Donne’s enjoyment of meeting new charter guests has brought her to Lady J where she ensures that you will have an incredible trip.

FIRST OFFICER – Franco Cronje

Franco found a passion for boats and being at sea after leaving the town of Mosselbay, South Africa, in 2008 as he intended to take a break between his 3 year theory and practical side of his diesel engineering studies. This newly found passion lead him to the 175’ Feadship M/Y Kisses cruising from the USA, Mediterranean and the Caribbean. M/Y Kisses showed him the ropes and skills gained over 3.5 years, Franco started doing courses to obtain the licenses required to progress in the industry and worked towards his Officer of the Watch. Franco’s continued experience between the 235’ Feadship M/Y Utopia and the 160’ Trinity M/Y ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM is where his interaction with charter guests showed him the love for entertaining while cruising from the Mediterranean to Central America. Having done 5 transatlantic crossings he also found his love for navigating the high seas and the seaman lifestyle. While traveling throughout the world he has obtained some basic conversational Spanish and French, and speaks English and Afrikaans fluently. Franco loves the outdoors and takes every opportunity to have a rush from downhill biking, hiking, snowboarding, to bouldering and kayaking. Franco tries to capture every moment in time with his love for photography and the friendships that go with it.

SECOND STEWARDESS – Danielle Pia Jones

Danielle was born and raised on the Gold Coast of Australia. She began her career in hospitality 7 years ago, after completing a diploma in business management and marketing, her passion for travelling steered her in the direction of the ocean, where she entered the world of yachting. In Danielle’s spare time she enjoys photography, fashion, culinary arts, holds a dive certificate and has an interest in health and wellbeing. Danielle’s passion for people and love of hospitality has drawn her to Lady J where she ensures that you will have a warm, comfortable, and unforgettable stay onboard.

STEWARDESS – Sarah Williams

Sarah hails from Hereford, England. She grew up in Weobley and schooled close-by. After finishing school she trained to be a hair color technician and worked in hair salons where she realized her passion for working closely with people. She also worked in a hotel and got service experience. Growing restless Sarah decided to travel and found herself in South Africa where she spent three years first developing business cards and later proceeded to sales. After learning of the yachting industry, she jumped at the chance, which ultimately satisfied her needs for interaction with people, travelling and living in the sun. In her spare time Sarah enjoys the great outdoors spending time in the sun and loves to exercise and keeping fit. She can often times be found reading a book or perhaps hiking the nearest trail. Sarah also has a culinary interest along with cheese and wine tastings. With her service minded approach and friendly demeanor Sarah is a great addition to the Lady J crew.

BOSUN – Blair Venters

Blair was born in Pretoria but moved to a small coastal town called Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape at a young age. A childhood of body boarding and surfing gave him a healthy respect and love for the sea. He went to High School in Port Elizabeth where he would spend his weekends surf lifesaving to get out of boarding school and onto the beach. After high school he tried his hand at studying accounting, which he learnt after two years, was not the ideal career path for him. He discovered yachting and decided to come travel for
a year and pay off his student loan before going back to study computer science and software engineering, but fell in love with the hype that is the yachting industry. He have spent the last 5 years in the industry, mostly cruising south Florida, the Bahamas, France and Italy on yachts ranging from 80 to 200 foot. He enjoys the social nature of the industry and the tough challenges that it puts you up to. He is on the cusp of doing his Officer of the Watch license, which will be the next big step in progressing in the industry. He looks forward to his time on Lady J to master his skills of looking after and entertaining guests and maintaining a safe and pristine yacht. Blairs hobbies include: amateur surfing and kite boarding, snowboarding and most adrenaline sports. He is interested in improving his spear fishing skills. He claims to have “a sick addiction” to technology and gadgets.

DECKHAND – Jean-Pierre “J.P.” Kilian

JP hails from Pretoria in South Africa. At an early age he moved to Port Elizabeth where he was introduced to body boarding and he immediately found a love for the ocean. This love led him to doing every water sport and activity he could find, such as surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving etc. After he finished school he relocated North of Port Elizabeth, where he worked in sales for a year, after that he moved to Qatar for a year and later decided to pursue a career in fiber optics, where he worked in implementation and planning divisions. After that he decided to resign, to sail a boat across the Atlantic from South Africa to Fort Lauderdale to do yachting where his love for the ocean was re-ignited. In his spare time he still like to surf, body board, kayak, paddleboard etc.

ENGINEER – Robert Buchar

Robert Buchar hails from New Jersey, USA and currently holds a Y4 Engineering license from the MCA and a 100GT Captain’s license from the US Coast Guard. At the age of 24, Bobby moved to the beach and started working for his brother as a Marine Diesel Mechanic. This exposure resulted in a love for the ocean and a desire to become a full time Marine Engineer. Bobby quickly moved from being land based to working full time on boats- initially in design and construction for a boat building company out of New Jersey, and then joined a 75’ Viking Sports fish as Captain/ Engineer, cruising New York to South Florida from 2007 to 2010. Bobby has never looked back and has concentrated on his career as an Engineer—13 years in the business to date and has completed multiple trans-Atlantic crossings, Panama Canal Transits and cruised the waters of Europe, the Caribbean, USA and Central America. In his spare time Bobby likes to fish and dive.
