Stand Up Paddleboarding in the BVI
While it has only been a few months since I had my first experience as a ‘boat dog,’ I have taken to it like a ‘fish to water,’ or shall I say, like a ‘dog to a paddleboard!’ Many of you landlubbers may not be familar with SUP (stand up paddleboarding) but it is constantly growing in popularity here in the British Virigin Islands, and I can see why!
A paddleboard is a great way to cruise around the beautiful bays and harbors of the islands! I hear it provides a great ‘core workout’ for the bipods, but for me, it is simply a good way to attract loads of attention from the tourists…I guess they’re not used to seeing a canine on a paddleboard. Apparently some of the bipods think that just paddling isn’t enough of a challenge, and they meet up with Breeze Paddle Surf in Cane Garden Bay to do yoga on their paddleboards! Are they crazy!?! I am happy to sit on the beach, dig for sand crabs and enjoy a scratch or two behind the ears.
I am finding more and more great spots to paddle about with my mom, and as I find them I will be sure to share them with you. Tomorrow, I am going to Little Jost Van Dyke, to visit the B Line Bar, and will hopefully enjoy a paddle around the bay. I look forward to giving you an update on this new ‘hot spot’ next week!
